Dr. Ashok K. Vaid has the unique distinction of performing the first 25 bone marrow transplants in any private sector hospital in North India. He has established himself as a pioneering figure in the field of bone marrow transplants. He is presently the Chairman at Medanta, and has been the head of the department of medical oncology in Artemis Institute, a senior consultant and coordinator of medical oncology at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, a medical oncologist and lecturer at Government Medical College, Jammu.

He has authored a number of publications, research papers and abstracts and has been actively involved in organizing various seminars, workshops and conferences throughout the country. Dr. Vaid has also conducted more than 40 international and national studies in clinical research..

Dr. Ashok K. Vaid is the founder member of the Indian Cooperative Oncology Network, a life member of Breast Cancer Foundation of India, Indian Association of Gynaec Oncologists and Indian Medical Association. He is also the member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, European Society for Medical Oncology and European Haematology Association.
