EPS and RFA stand for Electrophysiology Study and Radio-Frequency Ablation. Cardiac electrophysiology studies (EPS) are used to test heart rhythms in the case of arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat). These tests can help detect the source of the arrhythmia, how to treat the arrhythmia, and what medical devices might work best for each situation. Radio-frequency ablation (RFA) destroys any heart tissue causing irregular beats or disturbances using electrical energy to target the tissue.
