About Hysterectomy
Hysterectomy is a surgical procedure in which the entire uterus, or the part of the uterus above the cervix, is removed surgically. It is a very common gynaecological surgical procedure. It may also involve removal of the cervix, ovaries, fallopian tubes and other surrounding structures. A hysterectomy is performed to treat varying conditions, such as pelvic pain, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, fibroids, endometriosis, and heavy periods.
