Dr. Qassim graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1998. In 2002, he obtained MRCS diploma from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He started training in Neurosurgery in 2002, and completed his research project and was awarded a Master's degree in Neurosciences from University of London in 2005.
