Ventricular septal defect occurs when there is an opening between the between the two ventricles (lower chambers) of the heart. This opening, if large, can interfere with circulation. The VSD closure can be performed surgically (and sometimes nonsurgically using catheters) by sowing a patch or the pericardium over the opening. Tissue usually grows over the patch, making the closure permanent. Read More about Ventricular Septal Defect Closure (VSD) →
