Sinus surgery is used to improve sinus function by removing diseased, damaged, or excess tissues from the sinus cavities. The surgery is usually for patients that have chronic inflammation of the sinuses that can interfere with fluid drainage. Removal of problematic tissue during this surgery improves drainage of fluid from the sinuses. The surgery is usually performed endoscopically, but can also be performed traditionally, and can be performed under local or general anesthesia. In endoscopic surgery, the doctor uses an endoscope to view the sinuses. He or she will then use surgical techniques to attempt to widen anatomical channels to allow fluids to drain from the sinuses. In some cases, balloons might be used to widen these channels.
Dr Ashwini Kumar Mehta has done his graduation from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. He has done his MS in ENT from Delhi University in May 1988. He has over two decades of experience and has worked in various referral and teaching hospitals of the armed forces including the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and Army College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi as a Professor. He is conversant with all types of ENT and Head and Neck surgeries and has special interest in endoscopic nasal and sinus surgery, micro otology, phonosurgery and cochlear implant surgery.
Dr. Sangeet Poddar attended Medical school at Grant Medical College and Sir JJ group of hospitals under Mumbai University. On completion of his MBBS, he specialized in ENT and Head Neck surgery.After acquiring the Post Graduation qualification in 1998 he worked for 6 months at AJBM ENT hospital, Fort, Mumbai. He then worked at Shroff charity Eye and ENT hospital, New Delhi for 2 years as registrar, before starting his own practice.Whilst running his own clinic at Dwarka, New Delhi, he was working as visiting consultant at Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute, Paschim vihar and also at Bhagat Hospital, Janakpuri.
