A brain aneurysm is a weakened blood vessel in the brain that can sometimes burst open and release blood into the rest of the brain. In order to treat the brain aneurysm, the doctor might insert a small device (coil, mesh, etc). into the weakened area in order to strengthen it, or place a small metal clip around the area to stop blood flow to the aneurysm. Besides surgical procedures, some medications, such as pain relievers, anti-seizure medications, and calcium channel blockers can be used to treat the aneurysm.
