Elbow Surgery is a surgical procedure used to treat problems of the elbow and surrounding tissue. In elbow surgery, the patient will be placed under regional or general anesthesia. The doctor will make a small incision into the elbow area, insert a small camera known as an arthroscope, view different parts of the elbow using the scope, and perform correctional procedures. Elbow surgery can correct problems such as arthritis, scar tissue, and tennis elbow. Open elbow surgery (without the arthroscope) can treat other common elbow problems such as golfer's elbow and fractures.
