Colorectal cancer is a form of cancer that arises from abnormal growth of cells in the colon and/or rectum which are both located in the lower section of the digestive system. Usually, colorectal cancer initially presents as small, benign clumps known as polyps which then become cancerous over time. Although starting in the colon or rectum, the irregular cell growth can spread through the inner lining and various layers of the digestive system and onto other parts of the body.
