Replacement surgeries are surgical procedures in which damaged parts of the body (usually joints) are replaced with artificial parts. In this surgery, the patient will usually undergo regional or general anesthesia. The doctor will make an incision near the joint, remove the damaged or diseased areas, and replace these parts with prosthetic implants. In joint replacement revision surgery, the doctor will remove an artificial part that has become damaged or infected and replace it with a new artificial part.
