About Arm Lift

Arm lift surgery, also known as Brachioplasty, is a procedure to remove the excess skin and fat from between the armpit and elbow of a person. The aim is to create a more toned and aesthetically appealing look by placing the remaining skin back over the newly positioned contours in the arm. People can have a drooping, sagging appearance of their upper arms due to fluctuations in weight, as part of normal aging or heredity factors. This condition might not be corrected through exercises and need a surgical intervention to change the shape of the arm. The arm lift surgery helps in reducing the excess sagging skin which droops downward and decreasing the localized pockets of fat in the upper arm. The procedure can also tighten and smoothen the underlying tissue that supports and defines the upper arm shape. During the surgery, the plastic surgeon will make an incision with length and pattern depending on the location and amount of excess skin to be removed. Generally, the Incisions are made on the inside part of the arm or on the back of the arm. Then, the excess fat can be directly removed and treated with liposuction.
