Types of Lymphoma

There are two main types of lymphomas, namely Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s.

People of any age group can get lymphoma, but:

Hodgkin’s Lymphoma:

• This type of lymphoma most often affects the younger population, between the ages of 15 and 35.
• Hodgkin’s lymphoma mostly begins in the lymph nodes in the neck or underarm and is known to occur more in men than women.

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma:

• This cancer typically affects adults over the age of 60.
• Based on the abnormalities in many types of white blood cells, including B cells, T cells, and Natural Killer cells, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma has a wide variety of subtypes.

Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that develops in B cells most frequently takes the following forms:

• Rapid progression is seen in diffuse large B cell lymphoma.
• Follicular lymphomas are malignancies that progress slowly.
• Mycosis fungicides and Sezary syndrome are the two varieties of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that start in the skin’s white blood cells.
