The electrochemical assisted machine consists of a robot-driven exoskeleton orthosis or an electromechanical solution that reduces the physiotherapists effort. It can be associated as an automated treadmill training exercise.

Rhythmic Cueing

Improvement in timing and variability of motor responses

This technique involves matching the patient’s steps to the beats or music from the metronome (a sound device/instrument) to synchronize their motor responses. With the beat as a cue, the patient is required to take small steps. This helps the patients to attain a temporal symmetry in motor activities, especially walking.

Virtual Reality

Maximize task-orientated practice and increase energy expenditure by cortical reorganization

The patient is required to play or perform certain tasks in a virtual world that promotes cortical reorganization. This tricks the brain into believing that the activity performed was in fact real. This feedback can help the patients to achieve movement in their affected limbs, although it is extremely gradual.

Overground Walking

Gait training

This involves all sorts of walking activities performed on a solid surface with the assistance of a physiotherapist.

Patients with less severe impaired physical functions.

Orthotics

Support and stabilize unresponsive muscles

The patient is required to wear Orthoses made from thermoplastics, carbon fibre, metals, or elastic.

Patients with less severe impaired physical functions.

Constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT)

Promote movement in the paralyzed limb or upper limb with reduced motor functions.

The patient is encouraged to use their affected limb to perform all necessary tasks by constricting or reducing the use of the unaffected upper limb. It can be of various different types as well as durations.

Patients with hemiplegic stroke.

Hydrotherapy

Improvement in movement in affected limbs, support to the muscles, and relief from pain.

This therapy requires the patient to sit or lie down in a tub or pool of hot/cold water and perform exercises designed by the physiotherapist. The water pressure and flow helps the patients to carry out complicated exercises at a lower impact, eventually promoting healing in the affected limbs.
