About Cardiac Electrophysiology Study

Cardiac electrophysiology studies are used to test heart rhythms in the case of arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat). The doctor will use catheters to send electric pulses to patient's heart, and then record the signals produced by the heart in a process called cardiac mapping. These tests can help detect the source of the arrhythmia, how to treat the arrhythmia, and what medical devices might work best for each situation.
