About Cystoscopy

Cystoscopy is a technique used to provide visual access to the inside of the bladder and the urethra. In this procedure, the patient can be placed under local or general anesthesia. Then, the doctor will insert a small, narrow tube with a camera into the urethra and up into the bladder. In some cases, the doctor might perform minor procedures or take tissue samples from the bladder and/or urethra to send to the lab for examination.
