About Foraminotomy

Foraminotomy is a surgical procedure that involves opening up space for nerve roots in the spine. In this surgery, the doctor will make an incision in the patient's back to access the spine, create more space for the nerve roots in the spine by removing some surrounding bone and tissue, and then close the incision. This procedure is sometimes combined with other procedures such as spinal fusion, laminotomy, and/or laminectomy.
