About Laminoplasty

Laminoplasty is a surgical procedure that creates space for the spinal cord and/or nerves by restructuring the lamina (back of the spine). In this procedure, the doctor will make an incision in the patient's back to access the spine, move part of the lamina to one side to create more space, insert hardware or grafts to maintain the new shape of the lamina, and then close the incision.
