About Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy

Ovarian cyst removal (also known as ovarian cystectomy) is usually done in case of cancerous or non-cancerous cysts in the ovaries causing symptoms. In Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy, a laparoscope (device with light/camera) will be inserted into the abdomen of the patient to allow the doctor to visualize the ovaries. The doctor can then remove the cyst using small instruments, and close the incision. Patients may be advised to undergo partial or complete removal of one or both ovaries, if a cancerous growth is found.
