Lateral Release of the Patella is procedure used to readjust the kneecap (patella) into proper position. In this surgery, the doctor will create small incisions around the knee, use an arthroscope (tube with camera/light) to view the area, and then cut the lateral retinaculum to realign the kneecap. This procedure is generally used for patients that have patellar maltracking.
