About Menisectomy

The meniscus is a part of the knee that is made out of cartilage. In meniscectomy, the doctor will repair the torn meniscus by removing the damaged parts of the meniscus. The surgery can be performed using open surgery or arthroscopically (using smaller incisions and an arthroscope to view the joint). In some cases, the doctor may remove the entire meniscus.
