About Myringoplasty

Myringoplasty is a surgery used rectify eardrum perforation (hole in the eardrum) and/or hearing loss. In this surgery, the patient is usually placed under general anesthesia. The surgeon makes an incision above or behind the ear to access the eardrum, and then uses material to patch-up the perforated area. Two techniques to patch up the area are the underlay and the overlay technique.
