About Revision Gastric Bypass Surgery

Revision gastric bypass surgery is for patients who have undergone gastric bypass surgery but have not experienced weight loss, or have had complications from the surgery. For instance, if the pouch created during Roux-en-Y gastric bypass becomes too large, the patient can undergo one of many procedures to reduce the size of the stomach outlet. In another case, the patient might be switched from Roux-En-Y gastric bypass to Duodenal Switch. In general, the patient will undergo revisional surgery to restore the efficacy of the original bypass.
