About Septoplasty

Septoplasty is a surgery used to correct deviated nasal septum. This procedure can be performed either under local or general anesthesia. The septum is the part of the nose that separates the two nostrils. When the septum is deviated, it does not correctly divide the two nostrils, and in severe cases, can result in obstruction of airflow. In this procedure, the surgeon will realign the septum and/or reshape the surface of the septum. In some cases, he or she might also remove parts of the septum. Incisions made during the surgery will be closed with surgical thread.
