About Thoracoscopy / Pleuroscopy

Thoracoscopy/Pleuroscopy is a procedure used to examine the chest cavity. In this procedure, the patient will be placed under general anesthesia. The doctor will make incisions into the side of the chest, insert a thoracoscope (device with camera/light) into the cavity to view the area, takes some tissue samples or performs some minor procedures if needed, and then close incisions upon removal of the thoracoscope.
