About Aplastic Anemia

In aplastic anemia, the body of the patient ceases to create new red blood cells, which leads to fatigue and weakness. Bone marrow transplant is one method to treat the disorder if it becomes severe. Bone Marrow Transplant (also known as stem cell transplant) uses transplanted bone marrow and/or stem cells to replace the bone marrow of the patient. The replacement bone marrow or stem cells usually come from another donor (allogeneic transplantation) in the case of aplastic anemia. In order to transplant the new healthy cells, the old cells are first destroyed using chemotherapy or radiation; then, the new cells can be implanted. Read More about Aplastic Anemia →
