About Acromioclavicular Joint Repair
The Acromioclavicular Joint (AC Joint) is a part of the body that connects the shoulder blade and the collarbone. In some situations, the attachments between the shoulder blade and the collarbone are torn, which causes what is known as a shoulder separation. Treatment for injury to the AC joint can include medications or cold packs to treat inflammation, a sling, and in some cases, surgery that involves reconstructing the attachments in the joint or shortening the collarbone.
