Breast Lumpectomy is a procedure that specifically removes a breast cancer tumor and as little of the surrounding healthy tissue as possible. It is one of several types of 'breast-conserving' surgeries because it attempts to retain as much of the original tissue as possible. It is considered the least invasive type of breast cancer surgery. In some cases lumpectomy can be performed jointly with radiation therapy.
