Heart Port surgery uses minimally invasive techniques to perform cardiac surgeries. In contrast to the standard open heart surgery, which involves making the incision through the sternum, incisions are made between the ribs, and ports are used provide access to the area in need of surgery. This procedure still requires the heart-lung machine.
