Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a condition in which pressure on a nerve in the wrist causes discomfort, pain, and weakness for the patient. This can occur due to genetic predispositions, trauma, and/or repetitive use. Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery treats this condition. It can be performed as an open surgery or endoscopically (using an endoscope and smaller incisions). In this surgery, the doctor will cut or remove the carpal ligament from the hand of the patient in order to make room for the pinched nerve.
