Vagus nerve stimulation therapy is an epilepsy treatment in which a stimulator (or pulse generator) is placed inside the body and connected to the left vagus nerve in the neck. It is used to prevent, stop or reduce frequency and intensity of seizures that do not respond to medications and standard treatment. The stimulator generates mild electrical signals which are sent to vagus nerve in order to control the irregular electrical brain activity which leads to seizures.
