The Procedure

The process for dental veneers is essentially the same and is referred to as “European standards.” Not every veneer procedure calls for three sections. Dental veneer procedures are commonly used.

First Visit

• The dentist will examine your teeth and gums at your initial appointment to see if veneers are a good fit for you. If you qualify, they will remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth to prepare them.
• They will then take imprints of your teeth. These impressions will be used by a dental lab technician to create your personalized veneers. (If composite veneers are selected, no dental impressions are required.)
• The dental lab may need several weeks to finish your veneers. In the interim, your dentist can apply temporary veneers if needed.
• During your initial appointment, you will have some measurements taken and your teeth will be examined using some of the newest technology available, such as ultrasound and a panoramic X-ray.
• In addition to talking with the dentist about which veneers you need and how many, you will be asked a few questions to check your medical history.

Second Visit

• Your dentist will examine the fit, colour, and form of your veneers during a follow-up appointment before using dental cement to firmly adhere them in place. Lastly, they will examine your bite and make any required corrections.
• One should inform the dentist if one would like to alter the colour or shape of your veneer. To make sure your results are satisfactory, they will collaborate with you and the dental laboratory.
• There is no recovery period after veneer insertion. Following dental veneer placement, patients can resume their regular activities on the same day. As long as the anaesthesia wears off, you can also eat or drink right after your appointment.
• Your teeth are prepared for veneers once they have been properly cleaned.

Special Care

• To maintain the veneers in good functioning order, all that’s needed to do is brush, floss, and see the dentist regularly.
• Use non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste and a toothbrush with soft bristles. Whitening products should be avoided as they may scratch your veneers.
• Additionally, you should avoid biting into tough meats, apples, and carrots directly to prolong the life of your veneers. Chop up these foods and use your back teeth to chew them.
• Even though porcelain veneers are stain-resistant, it’s still a good idea to stay away from foods and drinks with dark colours, like berries, red wine, coffee, and tea. Your veneers may eventually get stained by these foods and beverages.
