vagus nerve is an important nerve that send electrical signals to the brain in a rhythmic fashion. This helps to maintain the normal functioning of autonomic nervous system. In this procedure a small inscison is made on the left side of the chest and small disc sized device is implanted under the skin, this usually a battery. After this another inscison is made around neck and the wires are tied to the vagus nerve to maintain the rhythm. This is also called pacemaker of brain informally.
