About Hydrocephalus
Hydrocephalus is a condition in which excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) causes the brain to swell. Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) Shunts can alleviate this condition and other similar conditions by draining the fluid from the brain into the rest of the body. In this procedure, the doctor places a catheter into the brain, a catheter into another part of body, and allows fluid to flow out from the brain. Hydrocephalus patients can also be treated with ventriculostomy, which involves drilling a small hole into the third ventricle in the brain to let fluid drain out of the brain.Dr. Al-Olama graduated from the Univerisyt of Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2003. He spent seven years at Sahlgrenska University hospital in Sweden where he was awarded the Swedish Board in Neurosurgery. He then completed a Fellowship in Paediatric Neurosurgery and Advanced Pain Management.

Dr. Qassim graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1998. In 2002, he obtained MRCS diploma from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He started training in Neurosurgery in 2002, and completed his research project and was awarded a Master's degree in Neurosciences from University of London in 2005. Thereafter, he joined the higher surgical training programme and successfully achieved the intercollegiate Fellowship of the Royal College FRCS(Neurosurgery) in 2009, and was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Higher Surgical Training in 2011.
