Eligibility criteria for Indian Medical Visa from Republic of Congo

Following conditions must be fulfilled in order to get an Indian Medical visa:
  • To avail Medical visa the sole purpose of travel to another country must be for treatment of a medical condition.
  • The list of medical ailments that are of primary consideration for granting medical visa  include problems related to cardiology, Neurosurgery, Joint replacement, Organ transplantation, congenital disorder, Cancer, renal disorder and ophthalmic disorder, among others. This list is non-exhaustive and medical travel for other treatments may also be granted. 
  • The patient /applicant should be seeking treatment at a government recognized and reputed hospital/healthcare facility located in India.
  • Only two attendants are allowed to accompany the patient and are issued a separate “Medical attendant visa”. The attendants may be the blood relatives or close associates of the patient. 

List of documents required to be submitted for Indian Medical Visa Application

  1. A duly completed hard-copy of the Indian Visa Application form having the photo and signature of the applicant.
  2. Original passport with minimum validity of 6 months. There should be at least two blank pages for Indian visa stamp.
  3. 2 recent photographs of passport size with a clear front view of the face and no tinted glasses.
  4. Proof of residence of the applicant
  5. National ID Card copy or residence permit copy in case of a foreign national
  6. Copy of the important pages of the passport showing clearly visible photo, date of birth etc.
  7. Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate is mandatory while applying for a visa to India.
  8. An official invitation letter from the concerned hospital in India stating the name, contact details and passport number of the patient and the attendant. The letter of admission/invitation should confirm that the hospital will provide treatment to the patient and mention the details and duration of the specified treatment.
  9. All the medical records and documents related to patient’s illness
  10. Proof of availability of funds establishing the applicant has sufficient funds to bear the expense of treatment and their stay in India for duration of procedure and recovery.
  11. An official referral letter from the local doctor/hospital/medical facility located in Congo stating the nature of ailment and recommending treatment in India.

Steps for filling Online Visa Application Form

Instructions on how to complete the Visa application are given below:

  • Click on https://eoi.gov.in/kinshasa/?pdf0820?000 and download the application form and take out the print of the visa form.
  • The form has to be filled in capital letters. 
  • There are two parts – A and B in the form. In the Part A, fill the information regarding personal details like name, date and place of birth, nationality and passport details, profession along with father and spouse name and nationality.
  • If any children are accompanying you and have a passport, then provide following details: Name of the children, Place and date of birth, Sex of the children, Relationship detail, Identification marks (if there are any)
  • Mention if you have visited India previously – provide the name of the place and date of the visit. Also state whether the visit or visa extension in India has been rejected previously.
  • Then fill up other information specific to your planned visit including duration for which visa is required, the arrival date in India and date of departure from India along with the address and telephone number of the place you will be staying at.
  • State the Type of visa (Single / Double / Triple / Multiple entries) and Object of journey, that is – Medical Visa and name of the concerned hospital providing treatment in India
  • In the next section – Part B, fill up information regarding: if you have a ‘No Objection to Return’ certification and provide specific details in case you do so.
  • Other information that you need to provide include destination you are travelling to in India, port in India that you will land at,
  • Enter the details of your references from your country as well as in India who will provide information and financial guarantee, if needed.

Steps for filling Online Visa Application Form

Visa Applicants are now required to fill in online visa form and submit the hard copy along with documents at the Embassy. Instructions for completing online Visa application are given here –
  • Go to official Indian visa website and click  ‘Regular Visa Application’ on this webpage.
  • The visa application form will appear. Fill up the required fields with your details and select the correct name of the country, nationality, Indian Mission and Visa type. Then proceed to fill the data regarding your expected date of arrival, date of birth, email ID, etc. and enter the verification captcha code. After completing the page, click on ‘Continue’.
  • The online visa application has three pages. Each has to be completely and accurately filled in before clicking on ‘Continue’. (Note your Temporary Application ID)
  • Fill in the required information regarding your ailment, the treatment plan, duration of treatment in the correct fields. Provide other details: the expected date of arrival and departure, details of the referral hospital in your country and the concerned hospital in India.

  • Upload your recent passport size photo by clicking on “Upload Photo” option on the online visa application form or paste it on the printed copy of the application form.
  • this, click on ‘Save and Continue’ and a new window will appear on the screen with a preview of your application. Thoroughly go through the form and check your details. Click on Modify/Edit if you want to change or correct the errors. If you are satisfied with the details presented on your application, then click on ‘Verified and Continue’.
  • Then another window will appear with a series of instruction. Read carefully and if you to change any information select ‘Cancel’.
  • If everything is accurate, click on ‘OK’ to complete the registration. A new window will open, here select an appointment date as per your convenience, for submission of the hard copy of the visa application at the Mission Counter.
  • Click on ‘Confirm Appointment’. A new window will be displayed with two options – Print or Save. Click on the Save option so that the application can be preserved and then select ‘Print Registered Application’ on the home page to finally take a print of the visa application form.
  • Then, place your signature in the box below the photograph as well as in the box at the bottom of the second page.
  • Finally, submit a hardcopy of the completed online visa application form and the required documents at the Mission counter on the appointed date (it is available on the right margin of the application form) during the working days (Mon – Fri) between 1000 hrs to 1130 hrs.

Processing Fee for Medical Visa from Congo to India

Medical Visa for residents of Congo is 80 USD for the visa validity of 6 months and USD 120 for one year validity. Additional USD 2/- are charged as service fee. The fee for Medical Attendant Visa is the same. In case the applicant is not a resident of  DR Congo or Republic of Congo or Gabon or Central African Republic, an additional cost of US $ 25 will be charged.

After arrival in India

FRRO Registration

After arriving in India, it is mandatory for all foreigners to register at Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO)/ Foreign Registration Office (FRO) within 14 days of their arrival into the country. 

This is applicable to all foreigner nationals that are above the age of 16 years. You can register by either reporting in person for the registration or through an authorized representative at the concerned Registration Officer.

You can register online by going to the official FRRO website https://indianfrro.gov.in/frro/ and fill in the online form. The mandatory documents and recent photograph has to be uploaded on the form. 

Charges for late registration are US$ 30/ (Rs.1395) – These penalty fee might be revised from time to time.

Documents that are required for registration:

  • Visa and Original passport of the applicant 
  • 4 photographs of passport size
  • Copy of important passport pages clearing showing the photo, validity, arrival stamp of India Immigration
  • Proof of Residence 
  • An official letter from the hospital where the patient/applicant is seeking treatment including the medical documents mentioning the duration of treatment. In case the applicant is admitted in the hospital, a medical certificate containing the applicant’s attested photo and certification from the doctor has to be submitted

Indian Medical Visa validity and Visa extension

Indian Medical Visa is granted for a period of 6 months or one year (triple-entry). The triple entry visa with one year validity to enter India using the same visa for a maximum of 3 times during the period of validity.

The visa validity is observed from the date of issue and not from the date of entry into the country.

Extension for visa is usually applied when the treatment and recovery is taking more time than the initial plan. Submit the application and required documents to the State Government/Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO). The extension is finally granted by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
